Members of the Object Management Group Model Interchange Working Group held an Interoperability Demonstration at the Technical Meeting in Long Beach, Calif. This event demonstrated an initial capability to interchange UML models between six tools from five different companies: Artisan Studio, IBM Rhapsody and RSx, Softeam’s Modelio, No Magic’s MagicDraw and Sparx Systems’ Enterprise Architect. The group has posted a recording of the demonstration, as well as an introductory presentation at the company’s wiki.

NEW PRODUCTS
eBridge Software is offering an integration module to integrate Web shopping-cart software from AspDotNetStorefront with business accounting software. The eBridge integration leverages AspDotNetStorefront’s Web services automation interface, allowing for seamless interoperability without modifying core application files. eBridge said the integration works with 37 accounting packages, including Microsoft Dynamics, Peachtree, QuickBooks, Sage MAS 90/200 and MAS 500, and SAP Business One .

Tasktop Technologies, which offers the Tasktop Pro agile task management software, and VersionOne, which sells the Agile Enterprise project management suite, will be offering software to provide direct access to Agile Enterprise from the Eclipse IDE. The software, called VersionOne Mylyn Connector, will be available in March.

Electric Cloud, which sells build-management software, is offering SparkBuild, a no-cost software build tool that the company said makes builds up to 10 times faster. According to Electric Cloud, the software is free for both commercial and non-commercial projects, and can be downloaded from www.sparkbuild.com.

Alfresco Software has announced Alfresco Content Services for Lotus social collaboration products, an integration between the Alfresco open-source enterprise content management system and IBM Lotus Quickr, IBM WebSphere Portal, Lotus Connections and Lotus Notes. The software will be available this spring.

SafeNet is offering what the company describes as the industry’s first technology-agnostic solution for software license authorization and enforcement on virtual machines. The solution, which will be incorporated into SafeNet’s Sentinel line of licensing products, lets software bind a software license to a single virtual machine, just as they would normally bind to a specific physical machine. According to SafeNet, the solution works with virtual machines from Microsoft, VMware and Xen, and will support any future VM technology.

Genuitec and Skyway Software are jointly created a version of Genuitec’s MyEclipse IDE that uses Skyway’s Spring development accelerators. Called MyEclipse for Spring, the product will be soon available for a US$199 annual subscription.

Blueprint Software Systems is offering Blueprint Requirements Center 2010 Feature Pack Two, which offers bidirectional HP Quality Center integration. The company describes the benefit of this integration as letting teams define, validate and deliver successful application modernization projects.

A beta of Jackrabbit 2.0 is available for download from Apache. Jackrabbit is an implementation of Sun’s Java Content Repository (JCR) API; a content repository is a hierarchical content store with support for structured and unstructured content, full text search, versioning, transactions and observation. The new version of Jackrabbit is based on version 2.0 of the JCR API, and uses Java 5.

Version 2.1 of BoxedApp SDK
, from Softanics, adds a number of new functions to the company’s application virtualization software. The additions allow emulating system registry and file systems, and creating virtual registry entries, files, keys and values. In such virtual environments, portable applications can run without any installations. The API supports C++, C++ Builder, C#, Delphi, Visual Basic 6 and Visual Basic .NET. The library let developers embed all applications’ DLL and content files, ActiveX, and OCX components into a single EXE file to keep them secure.

Accusoft Pegasus is offering version 4.0 of its ISIS Xpress SDK for imaging applications. The SDK is available as a .NET or an ActiveX toolkit, and it is delivered with the company’s ImagXpress version 10 SDK. The new version offers support for the latest scanner drivers, and is now certified for use with Windows 7. Additional features offer the ability to selectively display only currently connected scanners, access a new modal dialog option for scanner selection, and specify the location of ISIS driver files.
