October 15, 2009 —  Hewlett-Packard has changed the name of EDS, the business process outsourcing company it acquired last year for US$13.9 billion, to HP Enterprise Services. HP will also close a Lansing, Mich. call center that it had acquired in the EDS takeover. According to HP, no jobs will be cut, and the approximately 200 workers at the facility will have the option to commute to another Michigan-based facility.

Microsoft has acquired two enterprise resource planning (ERP) products that company executives said will strengthen its Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP software. Microsoft acquired a business process integrator from Fullscope, a company that customizes Dynamics AX for mid-market companies. Microsoft also brought in software for professional services from Computer Generated Solutions, a business software and service company. All products will be offered as part of Microsoft Dynamics AX, according to the company.
