NEW PRODUCTS
QA and software testing company Telesis has released testing software that organizes test assets, generates test data and finds software defects. Company executives said that BT3 consists of a test asset manager, priority grids that prioritize the most important test scripts, and a test generator that automatically builds test cases.

GitHub, maker of the open-source code repository and “social coding” website, has released GitHub Firewall Install, a commercial packaged version of the GitHub repository and Web interface. The full installation of the system includes a Web-based interface for managing code, as well as forking, merging, and tracking the progress of a distributed development team.

Perforce Software has released an application that lets its SCM system administrators check server status information from their iPhone. P4Scout is a free application available through the iTunes App store that can provide server details on hosts and ports, uptime, time remaining until a license expires, and number of users, according to Perforce executives.

Nokia has come out with three pieces of mobile development software: Web Runtime Extension for Adobe Dreamweaver, Web Runtime Plug-in for Microsoft Visual Studio, and Web Runtime Plug-in for the Aptana Studio Web development environment. Nokia executives said these let Aptana Studio, Dreamweaver and Visual Studio developers create widget-based content to Nokia devices.

UPDATES
Lombardi Software has released a new version of its Blueprint Web service. Blueprint now has a "participant" role, letting anyone inside or outside an organization submit feedback on processes in Blueprint. Lombardi also released Teamworks 7, its BPM suite. According to Lombardi executives, Teamworks now can facilitate the reuse of processes, even sub-processes.

Serena Software has updated its Dimensions CM and Express software change and configuration management offerings by adding continuous integration capabilities for agile development teams. There are new integrations with Visual Studio .NET, a new developer command line, and capabilities that automatically merge tasks.

SOA testing and monitoring company Green Hat Software has added new reporting capabilities to GH Tester 5.0. The new version of the SOA tester automates test generation through wizards, which Green Hat executives said can create tests and process results in minutes.

Web application load testing company Neotys has released NeoLoad 3.0, adding a more powerful analysis engine for detecting and correlating test scenario parameters, which company executives said can save much time. NeoLoad 3.0 also comes with monitoring modules that are now configured automatically for things like memory, system indicators, databases, or web services engine settings.

Sun Microsystems has released OpenSolaris 2009.6, a new version of the open-source operating system. Sun has added integration with Microsoft CIFS (Common Internet File System) for the use of Microsoft Windows security features, naming and access rights, and easy transfer and sharing of files between Linux, Solaris and Windows environments, company executives said.

Rally Software has added new reporting capabilities to its Rally ALM software. There are new iteration and release burn-down charts that Rally executives said can give project managers an idea if tasks will be accomplished on time, and a program chart mashup that lets managers chart progress with graphic displays, trend information and schedules.

TIBCO has released a new edition of its Spotfire business analytics solution. Spotfire 3 adds the ability to consume non-relational data to the solution, and it can take in data from Oracle, Salesforce.com Web services, SAP and Siebel. Application integration requires TIBCO Spotfire Application Data Services.

Virtual machine provisioning company DynamicOps has added the ability reclaim inactive virtual machines in a new version of its automated virtualization management software. Virtual Resource Manager also has a new feature for automated operating system installation for Novell and Red Hat users.

PEOPLE
Martin Buchholz and Andrew Haley have become members the OpenJDK governance committee. Buchholz is an engineer at Google and was the first person outside of Sun to push commits into the OpenJDK repositories last year. Haley is the open-source Java technical lead at Red Hat and has pushed IcedTea workarounds into the OpenJDK.

Jon Lauck has been named COO of testing company iTKO. According to iTKO, Lauck has over 25 years of experience in the software industry, and has held executive positions with Oracle, PLM company Parametric Technology, and electronics and communication equipment maker Chatham Technologies.

Marten Mickos, former CEO of MySQL, has joined the board of directors of cloud computing management company RightScale, Mickos served as CEO of MySQL from 2001 up until 2008, when MySQL was acquired by Sun Microsystems. After the acquisition, Mickos was senior vice president of the database group at Sun.
