Compuware to open Changepoint to third parties

June 15, 2009 —  Compuware has set up a 12-month road map for its Changepoint portfolio management software, releasing a version of the software catered to agile development.

For the first part of this yearlong road map, Compuware released Agile Accelerator today. Agile Accelerator is a version of Changepoint configured for tracking agile software projects; it is offered for free and is designed to help customers address business problems through agile development.

“This is an automated tool that lets developers respond to software project information, so they are providing the right status to not only the Scrum manager, but the executive and management level,” said Greg Davidson, product manager for Changepoint. “We’re adopting the agile methodology, we’ve got sprint backlogs, daily Scrum meetings, and we’ve got to be able to have those resources enter their time and status reports against the activities within the agile world.”

Following Agile Accelerator, Davidson also said today that the company plans to roll out some project management capabilities for the next version of Changepoint that will help ensure that developers do things easily and efficiently, though he did not get into specifics.

In similar fashion to what many application life-cycle management companies, such as Kovair, Serena and Urbancode, have done in regards to third-party integration, Compuware will use service bus technology to integrate Changepoint data to third-party systems.

Davidson said Compuware’s next release of Changepoint is scheduled for June 2010. In that release, Changepoint will integrate with Compuware’s Vantage IT service management software to help monitor portfolio management, the company said.
