June 8, 2009 —  We’re trying something new this year: “leaking” the SD Times 100 winners on our Twitter account. The “tweets” will be posted from the newspaper’s Twitter account, sdtimes.

Twitter is one of the most significant new-media tools in our toolbox. Since we set up our sdtimes account, SD Times readers have begun following our editors’ tweets to learn the latest news in the software development industry.

By tweeting the SD Times 100 award winners in advance, we’re providing our many followers with early notice of what’s happening, and what it means.

The tweets will begin at around 11 a.m. Eastern time (8 a.m. Pacific time) on Thursday, June 11—four full days before the 2009 SD Times 100 list appears in the SD Times newspaper and is published on the SDTimes.com website.

The 2009 SD Times 100 tweets will take place one category at a time, spaced out approximately every 30 minutes:

11:00 a.m. Eastern / 8:00 a.m. Pacific: Application Life-Cycle Management

11:30 a.m. Eastern / 8:30 a.m. Pacific: Cloud Computing *

We are excited about using social media tools to better serve and connect with SD Times readers, and the software development industry as a whole!
