COMPANIES
Scanning software provider GoScan will offer free versions of its scanners to all school districts in California for use on paper documents. GoScan executives said GoScan can be used for converting paper into electronic data for storage.

NEW PRODUCTS
Open-source database management company Ingres has created the Ingres Development Stack for JBoss, a preassembled bundle that lets developers use Red Hat’s JBoss Developer Studio to create business applications that have database features. Some of those features include security auditing, database partitioning and high-availability clusters that offer failover by restarting applications on a redundant computer system if there are software faults.

Mobile phone software provider Open Kernel Labs has created a virtualized version of the Symbian smartphone development platform called OK:Symbian. OK:Symbian lets developers run multiple mobile operating systems or multiple instances of the Symbian platform on a single device, according to Open Kernel Labs executives.

In the midst of its acquisition by Micro Focus, Borland Software has created a simulator for business analysts to put software project concepts into storyboard format. TeamDefine lets users drag and drop screen elements, as well as assemble connections to data and logic from customers, Borland executive said.

UPDATES
Web performance management company Coradiant is incorporating dynaTrace Software’s application performance management technology into its products. Coradiant executives said this integration helps to link end-user performance issues with the underlying application code responsible for causing problems.

Salesforce.com has released a new version of Force.com for Google App Engine, which provides services to build Web and business applications entirely in cloud computing environments. Salesforce executives said the new version offers Java libraries designed to run on Google App Engine, allowing App Engine applications to read and write to Force.com using the Force.com SOAP API.

Architecture management company Lattix has added integration with IBM’s Telelogic Rhapsody model-driven development environment in the latest version of its Lattix software architecture manager. Lattix 5.0 also includes 10 different partitioning algorithms for analyzing and re-architecting a system.
