Parasoft integrates SOA quality tools with IBM, Microsoft

May 1, 2009 —  A new version of software quality tool maker Parasoft’s SOA Quality Solution offers greater visibility into transactions that occur in native platform environments.

Parasoft released version 6 of SOA Quality Solution on Thursday. The package includes Parasoft SOAtest 6, which became available on April 20.

The company took two approaches toward increasing platform awareness: deeply leveraging native platform APIs, and creating an abstraction model for each native API to connect into custom software, said Wayne Ariola, vice president of strategy for Parasoft.

The software leverages that capability to provide more visibility into each hop of a transaction from browser to database, turning "black box" testing into "glass box" testing," he added. The software works with platforms from IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, Progress Software, Software AG, Sonic and TIBCO.

Parasoft is working to incorporate SOA Quality Solution deeper into its customers' software development life-cycle workflows, said Ariola.

Version 6.0 integrates more deeply with Hewlett-Packard Quality Center than previous releases of SOA Quality Center, and it now integrates with IBM Rational TestManager, as well as task elements native to Eclipse and Visual Studio, he said. "Any conditional type event can push tasks into the Eclipse view or Visual Studio view."

The company has changed its pricing model by introducing an enterprise package that costs US$50,000 for up to 50 users. Previous editions of SOA Quality Solution were priced per user.
