BizTalk 2009 released today

BizTalk Server 2009, released today, benefits developer productivity, gives businesses better insight and makes management of BizTalk applications throughout their life cycle easier, according to Microsoft.

BizTalk Server 2009 integrates with Microsoft's Visual Studio 2008 development suite to provide access to code artifacts, unit testing and visual debugging, said Darrell Cavens, director of product management for BizTalk Server. It also extends the testing and deployment capabilities of Microsoft Visual Studio Team System 2008.

Cavens said BizTalk Server 2009 also works with Microsoft's Hyper-V virtualization technology, and Microsoft is offering unlimited virtualized instances of the server on a per-processor pricing model.

With this release, BizTalk is now enabling RFID on Windows Mobile—from forklifts to handheld devices, said Cavens. Devices can be included in event modeling. Additionally, Business Activity Monitoring has been upgraded to simplify trusted data collection and data access.

BizTalk Server 2009 also includes 25 industry adapters for connecting to business applications, in addition to bundling a new version of Microsoft's ESB guidance toolkit. Universal Description, Discovery and Integration version 3-compatible service registries provide for easier service discovery and support for digital signatures, said Cavens.
