Open-source projects deploy on the cloud

Many developers working on open-source projects intend to provide their applications as Web services through commercial cloud providers, according to a survey from Evans Data. The survey talked to over 360 developers involved with open-source development and was conducted in November 2008. Below are some of the survey’s findings:

Of those who plan to use the cloud:

28% plan to use Google’s App Engine.
15% plan to use Amazon’s services.
9% plan to use Microsoft’s services.
9% plan to use IBM’s Blue Cloud.
1.5% plan to use Salesforce.com’s Force.com
