Aptify gains support for SQL Server, .NET 3.5

January 16, 2009 —
Aptify, a provider of business software and services, has added new Microsoft integrations to its application life-cycle platform and business application suite.

Aptify 5.0, released Tuesday, leverages Microsoft technologies, including SQL Server 2008 and version 3.5 of the .NET framework, Aptify executives said. Through the use of GUI tools, and generation of user interface and business logic elements, developers can create applications in less time than during traditional business application development, according to the company. Additionally, Aptify 5.0 uses the Ribbon navigation concept present in Microsoft Office 2007 to try to give Aptify users a familiar experience.

Amith Nagarajan, CEO of Aptify, said the software defines business functionality through a set of metadata that automatically creates business logic and database elements, reducing the amount of code required for applications.

“Code can always be incorporated in a seamless manner when needed, but [it] is not required in the vast majority of cases,” Nagarajan said. “Deployment of updates to applications is handled automatically, which greatly reduces the typical costs associated with making changes to existing systems. All elements within Aptify adhere to XML standards, which permits easy interchange of data with other systems within the enterprise.”

Nagarajan also said that upgrading enterprise business applications can be a complex and time-consuming task, but Aptify 5.0 eliminates this complexity because user interface elements and business logic elements are managed through metadata.

Aptify was founded in 1993 and is headquartered in Washington, D.C., with other offices in California, Illinois and Pennsylvania. In addition to its application life-cycle platform, Aptify also provides a suite of business applications for customer relationship management, events and meeting management, and learning management.
