Companies
Ingres and Red Hat are combining the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 operating system, Ingres Database and JBoss Enterprise Middleware to offer one solution for ISVs. Company executives said the integrated technology helps small companies tap into new market opportunities. The open-source offering is product independent, so companies can integrate software components into the stack.

New Products
AJAX provider Aptana has created a free, open-source AJAX server that embeds Mozilla Firefox within a server and a JavaScript application framework. Jaxer Pro 1.0 can run JavaScript and process the HTML Document Object Model at the server, as well as expose server-side functions to the Web so an HTML page can call back to those functions directly from the Web page, Aptana executives said.

Simulation and control engineering company Cosateq has released a Linux-based real-time simulator. Scale-RT offers a host-target prototyping environment for applications running on PC-compatible hardware, Cosateq said. The simulator is based on the Linux kernel and can work with multicore processor architectures.

Updates
Enterprise content management company Alfresco Labs has added a collaborative content feature to Alfresco Enterprise Edition 3.0. The Alfresco Share feature enables virtual teams to share and retrieve information, the company said. It has a document library with bulk content upload capacity and a Flash document viewer, and it has the ability to create virtual teams for projects.

Atlassian released a new version of its Clover Java code coverage software, which enables continuous monitoring test coverage through the development life cycle. Clover 2.4 includes test optimization, which the company said dramatically reduces the time needed to run builds. The new version also includes simplified Ant and Maven integration.

Open-source data integration company XAware upgraded its products for Eclipse 3.4. Company executives said the upgrade gives developers the latest version of Eclipse for creating composite data services for SOA, rich Internet applications and software-as-a-service applications.

Mashup provider Kapow Technologies added the ability to create RSS feeds to Kapow Mashup Server 6.5. The  works with AJAX libraries such as jQuery and Prototype. It also has an API to monitor performance through management tools such as Hewlett-Packard’s OpenView anew versionnd IBM’s Tivoli.
