New Products
IBM has created Rational Test Lab Manager, a software product that helps monitor energy use in a business. IBM executives said Rational Test Lab Manager configures and manages the use of physical and virtual machines to conserve energy by using analytics and reporting from Telelogic System Architect.

San Jose-based anti-tampering software provider Metaforic has created a security product that uses a network of thousands of cross-referenced checks to protect against hacking, reverse engineering, piracy and theft, according to the company. MetaFortress takes less than an hour to install and can be used at any point during the development process.

Updates
Electric Cloud integrated Eclipse with its ElectricCommander software production automation product. Electric Cloud said this delivers continuous integration capabilities to Java developers.

Real-time operating system (RTOS) provider Express Logic has made its ThreadX RTOS available on a simulated platform created by virtualized software development company Virtutech. Express Logic executives said this lets ThreadX developers create applications for Renesas Technology’s SH-4 high-end CPU core.

Testing company Green Hat has expanded test automation for SOA platforms in its Tester 4.2 product. Green Hat integrated it with the Solstice Integra Suite, which it acquired earlier this year. Users can isolate each interface for comprehensive validation of business processes, the company said. Tester 4.2 tests industry protocols like HTTP, WebSphere MQ and Web services.

ICEsoft Technologies, a provider of AJAX-based solutions for deploying rich Internet applications, is combining its technology with ILOG’s Java-based visualization product to help developers build AJAX applications with collaborative displays, ICEsoft executives said. According to ICEsoft, interfaces created with the two technologies are easier to code and maintain.

Instantiations, provider of Eclipse-based commercial software products, upgraded its CodePro AnalytiX code quality product with more security audit rules and updates to its Eclipse product line. CodePro AnalytiX now has over 1,100 rules in its Java code-auditing library. There is also integration with IBM Rational Application Developer and enhanced JUnit test generation for testing Sun’s Enterprise JavaBeans.

Klocwork has added C# static source code analysis capabilities to its Insight source code analysis product. Company executives said Insight’s C# analysis capabilities are integrated with Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 so that analysis can be run at the earliest point in the development life cycle. Klocwork’s Checker Studio also now lets users create custom C# checkers.
