Data Watch: Slowing economy takes toll on IT

November 1, 2008 — More than 40% of large businesses have cut IT spending in 2008 as the global economic news has grown more dire, according to Forrester Research, which surveyed roughly 950 senior IT managers in North America and Europe. Here’s what those managers said:

49% of North American organizations have cut IT budgets
31% of European organizations have cut IT budgets

Among the full sample of U.S. and European managers:
43% have cut their overall IT budgets
24% have put discretionary spending on hold
28% haven’t adjusted their IT budgets
