Altova introduces entry-level XMLSpy

Sometimes less is more. A Web services tool maker has added an entry-level XML editor to its product line up that is designed for basic editing tasks.

Yesterday, Altova made XMLSpy 2008 Standard Edition generally available for US$149. The editor can be used to view and validate Document Type Definition, XML, XML Schema, XQuery and XSLT files, as well as for performing basic editing tasks for CSS and HTML files.

Some of its capabilities are code completion, indenting XML files for readability, line numbering, and source folding and syntax coloring for easier navigation. It also includes well-formedness checking and other XML validation features.

Users may look at files in a grid view or in a graphical XML Schema View to visualize data according to the document’s hierarchical structure.
