IBM is investing US$360 million to build a new cloud computing center in North Carolina, at IBM’s Research Triangle Park facility. The facility is slated to open in the fourth quarter of 2009.

Sun Microsystems made a repurchase of approximately US$1 billion of the company’s outstanding common shares. CEO Jonathan Schwartz said the share repurchasing reflects Sun’s confidence in the growth of its business and shareholder value. The company now has about $3.3 billion in cash and marketable debt securities, Schwartz said.
