SharePoint Technology Conference announced

It started out as a tool for collaboration. But Microsoft Office SharePoint Server and Windows SharePoint Services have moved to the very heart of the enterprise, involving developers, systems administrators and executives alike in the creation and deployment of new business solutions.

In fact, the technology is gaining such widespread adoption that a shortage of workers with SharePoint expertise appears to be developing.

Tom Rizzo, Director of SharePoint at Microsoft, said, “The phenomenal uptake of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server is transforming organizations of all sizes, all industries and all geographies. Business leaders are envisioning new uses of SharePoint, and IT professionals and developers are gearing up to implement new applications as well as integrate SharePoint to other enterprise software. This is creating significant demand for training and education. We're delighted BZ Media is introducing this new SharePoint technology conference.”

To help bring IT up to speed, SD Times' publisher BZ Media is announcing SPTechCon: The SharePoint Technology Conference, to be held Jan. 27 to 29 at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport Hotel in Burlingame, Calif. BZ Media also produces the successful Software Test & Performance Conference, FutureTest and the Java-centric EclipseWorld conference.

The three-day conference is divided into three tracks of classes and workshops for IT professionals, business managers and analysts, and developers. Each presenter at the conference will be a true SharePoint expert, with many drawn from Microsoft’s tech teams or from outside authorities with MVP status. In all, more than 50 practical sessions will be offered.

Day One of the conference will consist of half-day or full-day workshops, while the next two days will feature keynotes and technical classes, as well as some social events that will provide attendees with a chance to speak with experts in a more casual setting and to exchange information with their peers.

“SharePoint is more than an application—it’s a strategic corporate platform that touches many aspects of a company’s information strategy, just like an enterprise database, ERP system or customer relationship management system,” said Alan Zeichick, co-founder of BZ Media, which also publishes Systems Management News for senior  IT managers. “SPTechCon addresses an important need: training IT managers, administrators and professionals about SharePoint, and also bringing case studies and business ideas to corporate managers.”
