The Polling Station: Continuing Education

Email    print
April 9, 2007 —  Nearly half the respondents to last week's poll question on the SD Times Web site are pulling themselves up by their own bootstraps and using how-to books to continue their education, and nearly 30 percent gain knowledge through online Web seminars. Of the remaining respondents, 15 percent attend classes at local colleges and even fewer rely on software vendors and consultants. Interestingly, only 5 percent say they travel to attend classes at industry conferences.

Developers are being inundated by a seemingly endless flow of new standards and technologies; staying up-to-date with them is a critical part of the profession. Professional development keeps both businesses and developers competitive in an ever-changing marketplace of ideas and emerging technologies.

This week's poll question is: "What would most help your development team do a better job?" Visit www.sdtimes.com now to let your answer be known.
