MKS Adds Vista Compatibility

February 22, 2007 —  ALM vendor MKS will announce in March the release of MKS Toolkit 9.1, the company's developer environment, and MKS X/Server 8.1. The most notable enhancement to MKS Toolkit 9.1 is support for Windows Vista and improved Unix compatibility.

MKS Toolkit is a set of tools for migrating Linux/Unix applications onto the Windows platform. Other new features of MKS Toolkit 9.1 are an update of the product's SSH (Secure Shell), and an enhanced telnet to provide support for single sign-on, which enables a user to authenticate once and gain access to multiple software systems.

MKS X/Server 8.1 also has Vista compatibility and a secure shell. The MKS interoperability product was designed to provide access to Unix applications from Windows desktops. MKS X/Server 8.1 will also have a Japanese version because there is a large demand for X/Servers in that market, according to MKS officials.
