Static Code Analysis Like Klocwork

February 14, 2007 —
Development tools maker Klocwork has released Klocwork Developer for Java, a US$300 plug-in that adds customizable static code analysis capabilities to Eclipse.

According to company documents, KDJ out of the box checks for security vulnerabilities such as array bounds violations, null pointer dereferences, cross-site scripting, SQL injection, process creation injection and resource leaks. The tool also checks for security flaws published in the Top Ten List of the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP).

Customizable aspects of KDJ include the ability to emphasize specific defects and deemphasize others. The tool supports Java EE, SE and ME up to and including Java 1.5, the company said. Developers can evaluate a fully functional version free for 30 days.
