ActiveState Releases Free Version of Komodo IDE

Dynamic language users are in luck: ActiveState released Komodo Edit 4.0, a free version of its Komodo IDE 4.0, early last week. This IDE is targeted at scripting language developers, and features support for Perl, PHP, Python and Ruby. The most recent version of Komodo added further JavaScript support, and these improvements are mostly found in Komodo Edit. The free version of this IDE does not include debugging, DOM inspection capabilities or interactive shells.

ActiveState Unveils Komodo 5.0 Support for distributed source control systems and multiple top-level windows leads the list of new features. Python 2.6 and an open-source version of the Komodo IDE complete the release.

CVSDude tries to smooth out version control issues In the quest for a more secure CVS server, CVSDude allows users to back up their data to onsite and offsite locations, as well as to configure open-source version control and issue tracking tools. Customization is also featured in the tool.

Free Software Foundation challenges Cisco in lawsuit After years of negotiation failed to come up with a settlement, the Free Software Foundation has sued Cisco over GPL violations present in its Linksys line of products. This marks the first time that the FSF has sued a large corporation.
