MyEclipse Adds Matisse

August 1, 2006 —
Genuitec’s MyEclipse 5.0 package reached milestone 2 in July with the addition of the Matisse4MyEclipse user interface builder, visual Hibernate mapping, expanded UML support and visual JavaServer Faces development.

MyEclipse 5.0 is based on the recently available Callisto 3.2 release of Eclipse. In addition to the features included with Callisto, MyEclipse has expanded Struts support and expanded support for Microsoft SQL Server. The included version of the Matisse GUI builder was originally created by Sun Microsystems for NetBeans but was brought over to the Eclipse community after Sun made the tool open-source in April.

MyEclipse 5.0, which sells for US$30 to $50, is expected to be available on Aug. 4 for Linux, Mac OS, Unix and Windows.

Currently, however, the Matisse GUI builder does not work under the Mac OS due to a long-standing bug. The final release of MyEclipse will also include further internationalization options for the IDE’s interface.
