ComponentOne releases ActiveReports 7 and announces new .NET reporting features
August 2, 2012 —
ComponentOne a division of GrapeCity, the largest component solution provider in the Microsoft Visual Studio Partner Ecosystem, today announced the release of ActiveReports 7. This .NET Reporting tool for Silverlight, Windows Forms, ASP.NET, and Windows Azure brings Microsoft .NET developers everything from familiar Visual Studio integrated designers to extensive APIs.
As the successor to ActiveReports 6 released in 2009, ActiveReports 7 will elevate the options available for reporting solutions and continue to fulfill the award-winning legacy of the product. James Johnson, product manager at ComponentOne, a division of GrapeCity, stated that, “Active Reports has a unique architecture that is optimized for speed.” Johnson continued, “Users may create form-based reports, transaction reports, and analytical reports using the reporting engine in ActiveReports 7 and developers are able to completely control the report processing engine to fit their needs using the ActiveReports 7 application programming interface (API).”
ActiveReports 7 introduces a new Page Layout Designer that offers tools to easily create different kinds of reports. “Our new Fixed Page Layout reports offer report authors unprecedented control over the final layout of their report,” commented Johnson. “Just by using a special control and setting a few properties on the data regions in the report, users are able to create extremely sophisticated reports in a matter of minutes. There is no other developer reporting tool that provides this level of command and such an array of options.”
With business intelligence (BI) trends driving quite a few industries in 2012, ActiveReports 7 has been released to support an organization’s need to convert data into reports which can be distributed, viewed, and printed to support better decision making. “With royalty-free distribution, multi-language features, customization options, and the ability to select from a variety of viewing formats, such as PDF, Flash, and HTML, ActiveReports 7 is the only file and code based reporting system of its kind,” said Johnson.
The ActiveReports 7 What’s New section of the product page details other new features included in this release: AJAX-based ASP.NET WebViewer control, advanced printing support, new barcode features, rich-parameter support across all viewers, and a persistent licensing model.
