Borland Dumps Core SDP

September 28, 2006 —
In exclusive remarks to SD Times, Borland Software has indicated that it no longer will pursue Core SDP. Brad Johnson, Borland's director of product marketing, told SD Times on Tuesday that his company is abandoning its Core SDP-based suite of ALM tools because it is built around business roles that weren't reflected inside companies seeking development tools.

Marc Brown, director of product marketing, said the Core SDP roles-based tools would not be vanishing but would instead be regrouped and sold à la carte to customers. He also said that, for now, Core SDP will remain a product, but that Borland will be refocusing its marketing and sales on these new piecemeal solutions instead, including the LQM suite of testing and requirements management tools announced last week.
