Quikcycle, a company focused on the creation of lab automation and test management software solutions, has announced the launch of new application servers for easier installation, along with new versions of its lab automation solution, AutoLab. With the new application servers, the offerings automate manual steps in the preproduction testing life cycle for networks. The application server products allow for testing organizations to perform tasks related to device inventory control, configuration management and the scheduling of resources . . . Micro Focus, a Newbury, England-based provider of enterprise application management solutions, has introduced Enterprise View, which allows customers to build views of their application portfolios. It collects data about enterprise applications in an automated manner, delivers role-based dashboards, and has a framework to support IT management and outsourcing initiatives.

DataDirect Technologies, a provider of data connectivity and mainframe integration solutions, has announced the latest release of its bidirectional XML Converters for both Java and .NET components. The new DataDirect XML converter release converts legacy data formats into XML and back, without a major rearchitecting of the application . . . Data visualization technology provider Dundas Software has announced the release of Dundas Gauge for .NET 2.0. Dundas Gauge, a visual software component, now includes AJAX integration and performance improvements for the Windows Forms control. It also has an enhanced wizard and sample library . . . Network simulator Shunra has announced Shunra VE SMB (for small and medium-sized businesses), a software version of the company’s Shunra VE hardware solution that simulates a point-to-point network link, enabling users to test the performance of business applications. The offering helps users see how applications perform at remote desktops and can find potential problems . . . Business integration middleware solutions provider Fiorano has announced the release of Fiorano SOA 2007 SMB. The SMB middleware includes standards-based service components, and data adapters required to build business workflows . . . An updated version of AccuSoft’s imaging software development kit, ImageGear for .NET, will be generally available on June 29. Among its new features are native .NET support for digital camera raw formats, as well as new image processing capabilities built into its API. ImageGear supports the .NET 3.0 platform . . . OpenSpan’s OpenSpan Platform 3.0 application integration solution now supports .NET 2.0 and Microsoft Customer Care Framework 2.6. OpenSpan has also added more native adapters, translators and connectors to help it integrate into enterprise environments, communicate between applications, and connect to databases. It became available at the end of April . . . Complex event processing solution providers StreamBase has announced version 3.7 of its stream processing platform. The latest release features new capabilities for developing and managing scalable CEP applications that handle real-time data. CEP works to extract meaningful events from an event cloud, based on timing, causality and event-driven processes . . . At Collaborate 2007, Microsoft challenged developers to design Office Business Applications (OBAs) that interoperate with Oracle applications for a grand prize of US$25,000, which will be awarded to the producer of the winning solution. Dubbed the O2 OBA Challenge, the contest will be open May 1 to Sept. 20.

Marilyn Daly has been named director of marketing for BZ Media, publisher of SD Times and Software Test & Performance magazine. Daly joined BZ Media in August 2006; she was formerly the communications director for a labor-management organization. She graduated from Long Island University in 1999.
