
Frans Kasshoek of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology was awarded the 2010 ACM-Infosys Foundation Award in Computing Sciences today for his contributions to the “structuring, robustness, scalability and security of software systems underlying many applications,” according to the ACM.
These discoveries have led to portable and distributed applications of software systems allowing for embedded and distributed systems. The ACM-Infosys Foundation Award was established in August 2007 and winners are given $150,000 provided by an endowment from the Infosys Foundation. The award recognizes personal contributions by young scientists and system developers to contemporary innovation.
