
Big moves around the programing world today. First, Dr. James Gosling is starting at Google today. Sounds like he had an awful lot of opportunities around the Valley, but he chose to go with the big Goog. Let's hope Google's reputation for squandering incredible talent by having Phd's tend servers and run backups doesn't extend to the creator of Java.
Last week, we learned that Jim Jagielski joined the board of directors for the OSI. You may remember Jim from such popular software groups as the Apache Foundation, and the Apple Unix groups of old. Let's hope he brings some can-do attitude to the typically stoic OSI.
Finally, the last changes to the C++00x specifications were approved this weekend. That means the ISO could have a final spec out this summer. It's been a long road for this update to C++, but it appears as though that lengthy journey is now at an end.
