For those of you who are sticklers for completeness, it would seem that the only remaining portion of the Java world that is not destined for being open source is JavaFX. As the OpenJDK rapidly approaches completion, JavaFX is being left out in the veritable cold. Certainly, Oracle is continuing to expand and improve the language, but there seems to be no intention, as yet, to turn the project into an open source effort.
Enter Steve On Java. This blogger has taken it upon himself to push forward a petition to make JavaFX open source. Steve's blog entry on the subject is a quick read, and his reasoning is sound. If you're at all interested in this topic, perhaps you should head over there and sign the petition.
