Last week I blogged about how Microsoft apparently changed the question on it certification exams to stop cheaters from fraudulently obtaining IT certifications. People that attempted to game the system studied the answers to braindumps (actual test questions), and failed en masse.
Unfortunately, some honest people may have also due to an apparent oversight by Microsoft. The Exchange Server 2007 test was updated to be current with Service Pack 1, and Microsoft may have neglected to update its preparation guide for it.
"The Microsoft book is over two years old and didn't cover SP1. I personally think [that] this is unfair. If the Microsoft Press book doesn't cover SP1, none of the study guides cover it, and the preparation guide doesn't mention SP1, how can Microsoft test for SP1?" a source familiar with the test said. I'm contacting Microsoft to learn more.
UPDATE:
"Microsoft encourages certification examinees to prepare for exams using a variety of tools that may include official exam preparation guides, training kits from Microsoft Press, practice tests available through Microsoft Certified Practice Test Providers, learning plans specific to products and instructor-led and self-paced training options, outlined here. When Microsoft issues a Service Pack or other product update, certification exams may be updated, as well. Microsoft Learning regularly reviews examine preparation materials to ensure that examinees have access to relevant materials," a spokesperson said.
