Earlier today, Adobe added some bling bling to its Flash platform, but the most significant part of the update might have been the name-changing of the Flex Builder Eclipse-based IDE to Flash Builder. Dave Gruber, group product marketing manager for Adobe, said the point of this was to distinguish Builder from the open-source Flex framework. Gruber said there was confusion among developers as to what was the commercially available IDE (Builder) to the open-source framework (Flex).
It remains to be seen if this will succeed in clearing up all the Flex/Flash flim-flam, but developers, whether they're working open source or commercial, can check out the Tour de Flex site to help clear up the picture. Flex those muscles. And Flash those applications!
