Talk about strange bedfellows.
Some people are falling in love with their work so much, they are snuggling up with their laptops or other mobile devices as they go to bed, according to a recent survey. Figures show that 57% of employees in the United Kingdom work on their laptops in bed from anywhere between two to six hours. Eight percent of those people said they spend more time on their mobile devices during the evening than talking to their spouses or partners.
Sounds like some folks need a mobile device intervention. If you're spending more time with your BlackBerry than your babycakes, you really need to ease up on digital intake. I know this is a computer/consumer world, and in my case, I spend probably almost 10 hours per day in front of a computer screen; eight or more for my job, and another two just surfing my social networking sites and checking out insignificant websites. But when it comes to family and quality time, just give it a rest! Especially when it's time for you to get some rest.
The survey was conducted by data encryption company CREDANT Technologies (who also created the cartoon on the right). Three hundred city workers were interviewed.
