Funny little tidbit about the functions of the Internet usage statistics site, StatOwl.com.
I wrote a note through the site's Contact Us forms—there was no eemail address or phone number—to the folks behind StatOwl, looking to get some confirmation on a report they put out about the adoption of Flex, Silverlight and Java (not JavaFX, which is what I was inquiring about). I got an e-mail back from a StatOwl representative who explained that the report was looking at general Java Virtual Machine (JVM) penetration.
Towards the bottom of the e-mail response, I see this line: "I personally can't believe it. Someone actually wants to contact you fools. I'm busy preparing to unleash all of the biblical plagues upon you so don't bother me again!"
Apparently, the site has forms that are programmed to "taunt" StatOwl reps when someone submits a request or question. That's one mean owl!
By the way, here is the report. Looks like Silverlight has some catching up to do, since it is listed at only 21.58% of RIA adoption in the month of February, while Flash has 96.69% and the Java plug-in, through the use of JVMs, has 81.4%.
