The other day, I caught up with Taylor McKnight, a Gainesville, Fla.-based developer who is one of the brains behind Chime.TV, a video conglomeration that is fed by 10 Internet video sites. About a year-and-a-half ago, I wrote a story about how Taylor won Mass Event Labs' "Mashup Camp" contest, in which hundreds of developers participated and created mashups that were rated on business applicability and innovation. At a previous Mashup Camp, McKnight also took home a prize for podbop.org, which mashed event and concert data with a databse of MP3s.
Since then, McKnight has been continuing to mash away at Internet content. The young developer was to begin work on a new version of Chime.TV, but instead caught fire with what he called a "surprise hit" with SCHED*, a conference/festival scheduling app that has been used by over two dozen events. The app's custom schedules and global searching capabilities let convert lovers plan out music trips with friends and search through venues and bands. There is a "Most Popular Events" feature that lets you know what happenings everyone else on the site is checking out. Additionally, it is iPhone compatible.
In addition to cranking out great mashups and applications, McKnight is also doing his share of traveling, as evidenced by this photo he provided us with for our original story. He made a followup appearance in Paris this past summer.
