JavaFX blogger
Jim Weaver recently took time to speak with SD Times about JavaFX for our "Rendering RIAs" series, discussing its ability to call millions of Java classes with its rich client Java, along with other features. Since JavaFX is fairly new on the Rich Internet Application scene, Weaver has a familiarity with the platform that few other developers have up to this point. Many developers toyed with the beta release of JavaFX, but not many know the platform's ins and outs well as of yet. Weaver, meanwhile, tries to teach people about how to become a "JavaFXpert" and co-wrote the book "Pro JavaFX Platform: Script, Desktop and Mobile RIA with Java Technology."
Among things he'd like to see instituted in future releases of JavaFX, Weaver said he’d like to see Sun use a style-sheet model in the vein of CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). The API allows for third parties to create models like that, so that should happen over time. Weaver is also looking forward to JavaFX Mobile, which will be launched at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, beginning February 16. JavaFX Mobile Handsets are expected to be demonstrated at the conference. This will have JavaFX programs running on computer phones.
Sun is also expecting to ship some advanced 3D tooling that will appeal to developers and designers at JavaOne in June.
