Laura DiDio has struck again. Speaking with Laura is always a delight, and she always says something to ruffle a few feathers. Today she told me that a survey conducted by her company, Information Technology Intelligence Corp, found that around 60 percent of enterprises were amiable to Mac OS X on the desktop. "I don't see desktop Linux making inroads into Windows [market] share. Apple is playing spoiler if anything," she said, adding that Apple is "creeping in" in ways not seen since the 1980's.
The survey was sent to around 700 enterprises. As a disclaimer, I have not read the report nor have I reviewed its methodology. With that out of the way, Laura's previous work has been solid despite gripings about her sponsors at Yankee Group. Her work passes the muster, but I'd like to see more of the same research before I write off desktop Linux.
