Rogue Wave Updates SourcePro C++ Library
By
Andy Patrizio
March 1, 2006 —
Performance enhancements and increased platform support are among the improvements in SourcePro C++ Edition 9, the latest version of Rogue Wave Softwares cross-platform component library for Linux and Windows developers.
This version adds support for three new enterprise Linux platformsRed Hat Enterprise Linux AS 3 Update 6, Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS 4 Update 2 and Novells SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 SP 2bringing the total number of platforms supported by SourcePro to 45.
In addition, Edition 9 brings the library up to date with some development tools and database revisions. The most notable new addition is for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005. SourcePro
C++
Edition 9 also supports GNU GCC 3.4.4 on Solaris 10, Oracle 10g r2, PostgreSQL 8.0, IBM DB2 8.2 on Solaris 10, Informix 2.81 on Solaris 10 and IBM Informix 2.90.
Edition 9 also adds support for the long double data type, enabling input and output binding of long double types. Long double type is often used to process high-precision mathematical or currency data found in scientific and financial services applications. It also supports file sizes greater than 2GB, IBM ICU 3.4, Intel Math Kernel Libraries 8.0 and OpenSSL 0.9.8.
In addition, Rogue Wave has changed its license plans. Users will have access to the development code for the open-source release of Rogue Wave
C++
Standard Library under Apache license, as Rogue Wave has an agreement with Apache to provide the
C++
library for Apache developers, according to Cory Issacson, president of Rogue Wave.
SourcePro C++ Edition 9 is available now; pricing was not disclosed.
