Zoho implements Twitter-like project management

July 6, 2009 —  Zoho has polished up its online project management and team collaboration software with some new collaboration capabilities and integrations.

Zoho Projects 2.0, released last week, is a software-as-a-service model hosted on Zoho’s servers. The new version provides a Twitter-like interface for status updates and information relevant to the whole development team. There is a new shared calendar to keep everyone aware of deadlines and meetings, along with integration with Zoho Office for the creation of documents using one’s browser.

“Planning and reporting is just one facet of working on a project,” said Rodrigo Vaca, director of marketing at Zoho. “We designed Zoho Projects 2.0 to be a project utility where users around the world can work together on their projects, providing a place to keep all their files, chats, forums and other materials.”

The new version offers the ability to import projects from Microsoft Project so that users can plan tasks in Microsoft Project and then bring it into Zoho Projects 2.0.

Additionally, there is a new project dashboard for a “quick view” of tasks and other important information around projects, according to Zoho.

Zoho Projects 2.0 is priced at US$12 per month for the “standard plan,” which caters to 10 projects, and an “enterprise plan” at $80 per month for unlimited project management. There is also a free version available that covers one project for up to 100mb of online storage.
