Just re-compiling source-code on another software platform is a very simple way of positioning a re-hosting process. Maintaining the program source-code after the re-hosting many times may costs more and delutes the advantages. A complete review of the existing applications and processes to evaluate the most appropriate way to move forewards with or without the "old" code is here recommended. New software utilities in the form of available ERP systems or development tools are worthwhile to consider before taking the proposed approach. The suggested process, is comparable to putting an old antiquated engine in a new car chassis.

One of the attributes that makes rehosting so attractive is that there is literally no re-training of users in order for them to use the application. It is the exact same application they had on the mainframe. The impact on an organization to rewrite the code into a more current technology (ie Java) plus the cost of re-training the entire user base, plus re-training or hiring new IT employees to support the rewritten application make solutions such as Tmaxsoft's extremely unique to large organizatoins.
