Telerik readies Silverlight controls for business intel

March 4, 2009 —
Telerik, a .NET component maker, announced last week that it would be releasing a grid control and a 3D engine for Silverlight. An automated testing tool for ASP.NET was also announced.

The company says that it will deliver RadGridView for Silverlight this month as part of its upcoming Q1 2009 Telerik component suite, said spokesperson Ina Tontcheva. RadGridView features data compression to reduce server traffic and asynchronous data binding for better performance with large datasets.

The control also provides end users with Microsoft Excel-like filtering options and the ability to export documents as CSV, or to Excel and Word. The control mirrors RadGridView for Windows Presentation Foundation and shares the same codebases and API, the company says.

Earlier in February, Telerik began to demo its upcoming Silverlight 2-based 3D engine. The engine will be used for data visualization in upcoming chart and gauge controls, and it will help make business intelligence applications more interactive, the company said.

Additionally, Telerik added an automated UI testing tool to its portfolio: WebUI Test Studio, which is designed for use with its RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX controls. WebUI Test Studio was developed in partnership with ArtOfTest, a quality assurance software developer, and will also be released this month.
