Telerik building feedback portal for TeamPulse

August 15, 2011 —  Feedback is a key element in many software projects, as development teams need to continually check in with stakeholders to ensure that the requirements are being met and that the features being released are desired and on time. To help developers accomplish this goal, several tool vendors incorporate a way to pull feedback into the development management system and Telerik, provider of the agile management system TeamPulse, will be incorporating such a portal in the fall.

Joel Semeniuk, executive vice president, agile project management division at Telerik, said described the portal UI as “social media meets Microsoft Metro; a sort of Google+ meets Facebook meets TeamPulse.”

“It is outside of the main application and is HTML-based, and HTML5 compatible, so it can run on every device. It allows end-users to submit product requests and see the progress of their requested features. Customers do not need a license for TeamPulse to use the portal and data from the portal is pulled into TeamPulse,” Semeniuk said.

Semeniuk added that the feedback portal will have a social media feel that customers will be used to in order to allow developers to obtain feedback on their projects.

The portal does not allow for end-user tests, so end-users are only able to comment on the features they want to see based on whatever version of software they currently have.

The newest release of TeamPulse, available today, has an enhanced UI, additional tagging capabilities to track requirements and determine how they will be released, and a new backlog management system. The new backlog allows all team members to work in one application to monitor bug tracking, release management and requirements.
