NEW PRODUCTS
Governance automation company SOA Software has created a policy definition and service monitor for IBM WebSphere. Service Manager for IBM WebSphere DataPower allows WebSphere developers to virtualize XML and security processing, and to centrally define policies that will be applied to multiple DataPower appliances, SOA executives said.

Software development and education company InnerWorkings has released study guides for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 exams. Each guide offers recommended coding drills, online access to exam-related books from Safari Books Online, exam-related articles from the Web, and a practice test.

IBM and business integration software provider Hubspan have created a software-as-a-service integration platform that combines Hubspan’s on-demand integration platform and IBM’s WebSphere integration software. The platform, WebSpan, aims to help businesses reduce the costs involved with integration by offering project maintenance as part of the platform, according to IBM executives.

UPDATES
Business process management application provider Active Endpoints shipped ActiveVOS BPM version 6.2, adding a feature that aims to prevent problems in business processes due to hardware failure. The MultiSite feature allows users to scale their BPM environments to distributed teams.

Distributed data management technology provider GemStone Systems has incorporated the ability to adjust computing resources without interruption to operations into the latest version of its distributed data management platform. GemFire Enterprise 6.0 features a new cluster resource controller that continuously monitors distributed data resources.

Software testing company uTest has added an interactive global map to its website, where site visitors can browse testers by country, operating system and experience level. There is also a community forum where over 16,000 testers share ideas and best practices, company executives said.

COBOL and Java technology company Veryant released a new version of its application platform, isCOBOL APS 2009. Veryant executives said the new version modernizes COBOL assets and simplifies COBOL and Java integrations. The isCOBOL runtime environment is Java-based, so the company said COBOL applications can be deployed across multiple platforms, including Linux, Macintosh, Windows and Unix, using one codebase.
