October 1, 2005 —  The second annual Software Test & Performance Conference expands into New York City the first week in November, offering more than 60 tutorials and technical classes for development and test/assurance professionals during three days.

The debut event, held in December 2004, was in Baltimore. The Software Test & Performance conference is owned and produced by BZ Media, which publishes SD Times and Software Test & Performance Magazine. This year’s event will be at The Roosevelt Hotel in midtown Manhattan.

Headlining STPCon 2005 are three keynote speakers: Mike Milinkovich, executive director of the Eclipse Foundation; Martin Fowler, chief scientist of ThoughtWorks; and Adam Kolawa, co-founder and CEO of Parasoft.

The first day of the conference, Tuesday, Nov. 1, will feature six full-day tutorials on test automation, finding and fixing requirements errors, agile testing methods, functional and structural test techniques, software quality metrics, and the use of patterns in testing.

The following two days will contain 90-minute classes covering a wide range of test issues, from security and user-acceptance testing to XML and performance management throughout the application life cycle. While most classes are platform-independent, there also will be in-depth classes on testing using specific platforms such as Eclipse, Java and .NET.

The diamond sponsor of STPCon’s exhibit hall is Software Quality Solutions, a consulting firm based in North Brunswick, N.J., but also with offices in Sunnyvale, Calif. As of mid-September, the platinum sponsors are AppLabs, Segue and Worksoft; gold sponsors are Empirix, LogiGear and Parasoft; and silver sponsors are iTKO and Quest. There will be a reception on the show floor on Wednesday from 6 p.m.–7:30 p.m.
