SmartBear Software Further Expands by Acquiring World’s Most Widely Used Web Services Testing Tool soapUI

Email
July 5, 2011 —  SmartBear Software today announced the acquisition of Eviware, creators of soapUI and loadUI, the world’s leading testing software for Web Services. After tripling SmartBear’s business in just one year, this acquisition further accelerates SmartBear’s momentum and significantly expands its global user community of developers, QA and IT professionals.

Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) has become a mainstay of software development, and the need for automated testing of web services has advanced to one of the fastest growing segments in the testing market. SmartBear tools help improve quality and performance throughout the entire software development lifecycle, anywhere – on the desktop, mobile and in the cloud. The addition of soapUI and loadUI expands SmartBear’s functional and load testing capabilities into Web services, enabling customers to efficiently advance the testing and quality of their SOA-based applications.

Joe Krivickas, CEO, SmartBear Software, said, “We are excited to welcome all 800,000 soapUI and loadUI users to the SmartBear family. This is yet another important step this year on our mission to provide one of the world’s top three platforms for software quality and to deliver ‘Quality Anywhere’ to our users – on the desktop, mobile and in the cloud.”

Ole Lensmar, CTO, Eviware, said, “We are thrilled to have found such a great new group of colleagues who are experts in software quality and have a passion for the needs of software developers and testers. This will allow our open source projects to thrive and our team to deliver even better tools to a larger user community.”

Niclas Reimertz, CEO, Eviware, said, “SmartBear’s passion for its community and delivering user-oriented tools focused on improving quality for individuals and teams is a natural fit to extend our tools’ reach to support the needs of developers and testers around the world. We look forward to continuing to serve our users while being part of a very strong, global team.”
