Parasoft creates test environment for transactions

February 18, 2011 —  Parasoft is offering a new product that monitors complex transaction systems, then builds tests and models based off the transaction for development teams to evaluate.

Virtualize, released Tuesday, supports complex systems running on heterogeneous back-end systems and monitors, then captures all transactions placed in that system to develop a smaller, easier-to-manage testing environment, according to Wayne Ariola, Parasoft’s vice president of strategy.

The software lets developers replicate portions of a larger system for testing. Development teams run a transaction to the system, collect it, and then model it for testing, Ariola explained.

Virtualize can be used with several IDEs, including Eclipse and Visual Studio, and can be accessed with any automated or manual testing platform including HP Quality Center, IBM Rational Quality Management Suite, Oracle ATS or Parasoft Test, he said. Virtualize can be purchased as part of the Parasoft testing suite or as a standalone service; the company said that pricing will vary depending on the kind of setup used.
