COMPANIES
Mobile and desktop application company Appcelerator has created a partner program that provides technology, training and development capabilities for building iPhone, Android, Netbook and desktop apps. The program gives developers use of the Appcelerator Network and training for building an application on the company’s Titanium Web application platform.

NEW PRODUCTS
Agile development company ThoughtWorks Studios has launched an online agile assessment website for gauging the status of a development team’s agile adoption. www.agileassessments.com consists of a 20-question diagnostic around management and engineering practices, and it provides a report with analysis and suggestions on areas for improvement. Some of the management areas the tool reviews include requirements analysis, project management and governance.

ALM company Aldon has released the Web-based Aldon Report Manager for viewing and tracking all software development data, assisting with audit compliance and creating project management reports. Users can select and run reports from pre-packaged templates on tasks, or create a customized query, Aldon executives said.

On-demand tech services provider iYogi has released a suite of tools and services to allow users to upgrade or migrate to Microsoft Windows 7. The free offerings include Windows 7 Online Readiness Test to evaluate the compatibility of existing PCs with the operating system; the Windows 7 Basic Migration tool to migrate data and personalized settings; and a website for downloading and installing applications.

UPDATES
Business application company Progress Software released a new version of its Actional business transaction manager. Actional 8.1 integrates with all applications built using SAP NetWeaver, whereas only NetWeaver applications created with Java could be managed with prior versions of Actional. There are also auditing and logging capabilities to let users distribute audit and log information via JMS or directly to a database.

Database replication and XML mapping company HiT Software released Allora 6.0, a new version of its data transformation software that maps data between XML and relational databases. New in Allora 6.0 are graphically generated reports to allow designs to be shared among various groups for tracking purposes, and graphical representation of data relationships through tables.
