NEW PRODUCTS
Imaging development tool kit provider AccuSoft has created an SDK for building Web imaging applications for Microsoft Silverlight. ImageGear for Silverlight displays desktop rich Internet applications. It offers image processing and photo enhancement capabilities, and supports 80 image formats.

Artisan Software Tools, a U.K.-based modeling tool company, is offering a free single-user version of its Artisan Studio SysML/UML collaborative development environment. Artisan Studio Uno provides what the company calls an entry-level tool set, and it implements OMG SysML and UML standards.

UPDATES
Active Endpoints has made available a new version of its business process management system. ActiveVOS 6.0.2 adds service-level reporting, which summarizes the response times of the top 10 activities in a business process so that operations staffs can prioritize tasks.

Embarcadero has released CodeGear RAD Studio 2009, the newest version of its rapid application development suite. RAD Studio 2009 lets developers create applications that handle global data. Developers can build database applications by separating data and business logic with a new DataSnap feature. The suite also lets developers use various .NET technologies.

Component provider FarPoint Technologies has fielded a new edition of its COM spreadsheet component. FarPoint Spread 8 COM targets Visual Studio 6 development, and its source code is available for purchase. Spread 8 provides a more modern user interface, more formulas, 64-bit support and the ability to add OCX controls to a cell.

Bredex, a software development IT services company, released GUIdancer 3.0, an update of its automated GUI test tool. The release adds a new modeling perspective for model-based testing that lets testers automatically transform models into GUIdancer test cases. The revision also lets testers create reusable keywords from a running application.

Ilog has added integration with ICEsoft’s ICEfaces and other AJAX frameworks in version 8.5 of Ilog JViews, its Java-based visualization suite. The suite’s Ilog JViews Graph Layout for Eclipse brings integration with the Eclipse Modeling Framework, Graphical Editing Framework and Graphical Modeling Framework.

Data analysis and visualization software provider Visual Numerics has added new finance and business intelligence algorithms to its IMSL C Library of mathematical and statistical algorithms written in C, C# and Java. More than 30 algorithms in the library can now be used in multicore environments.
