Adobe and Zend team up to aid RIA developers

September 16, 2008 —
Zend Technologies is holding its annual user conference today in Santa Clara, and Adobe Systems was on hand to show its support for PHP.

As the company employing some of the brains directing PHP's growth, Zend hopes to bring Adobe's flashy development tools to bear on the world of rich Internet applications. Today, the two companies announced that the Action Message Format has been integrated into the Zend Framework 1.6.

Adobe's Action Message Format is specifically designed to help speed up the transferal of multimedia and other types of content between server and client. With Adobe's Flex running the front end of an RIA, Zend hopes developers will use its framework and PHP on the server side to handle the distribution of information and database elements to and from the client.

The work between Adobe and Zend will also extend to their respective Eclipse-based work environments. Both companies will work to bridge the gaps between their two development environments and to foster connectivity between both Eclipse variants.
